MONDAY, May 14, 2018 -- Most states require school athletes to have a sports physical, and now is the time to book it, doctors say.
These physicals can reveal health problems that could impair athletic performance or even pose a risk of injury or death, according to Dr. John Higgins. He's a professor of medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
SUNDAY, April 8, 2018 -- Young baseball pitchers are at risk for overuse injuries, but there are ways to reduce that risk, a sports medicine expert says.
"Pitching year-round, inadequate rest between seasons and pitching in multiple leagues all have been linked to an increase in elbow and arm injuries," said Dr. Eric Makhni. He's a physician and surgeon at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.
